Your portrait is an investment that will be enjoyed by generations of viewers! No matter what you invest in your portrait, you can be assured that beauty, quality, likeness of subject and personality will be yours to enjoy in your portrait long after we have created it! It is not unusual to be unsure of what you actually want in a portrait, let alone worry about the size! Use the following figures as a guideline to get a feel for what you could invest in your portrait. We do not determine our fees on a "per inch" basis with the exception of oils which are created on a particular size canvas. All the other mediums can be matted and framed in many different sizes! Basically, the larger the portrait and the more subjects that are in it, the more you'll invest. Our guideline below is based on one subject.

Many of our Portraits fall "in between." Ask us questions! There is no obligation to you for us to visit your home and get a feel for where the portrait may be displayed. Learn about the different mediums. Let us help you find the appropiate size for your Portrait.

We prefer to work from our own reference photographs if the portrait that you want is of a particular subject at the current age.(The exceptions are our cameo portraits.(see below) So how do we do that? We simply schedule a convenient time for us to meet in your home and photograph the subject. This also allows us to see where the portrait may be displayed. We develop the photos, make sketches in several different sizes and return later that day for you to see the images, sketches and finalize your ideas! There is no charge for the photography, sketches and travel (within 100 miles of Raleigh, NC) If we need to schedule another time for you to view the photographs, then we collect $250.00 the day of the photography session which is applied to your initial investment when we begin your portrait creation! We travel all over the country! Our clients in other parts of the United States do add travel and expenses to the final figures.

We must collect sales tax from our North Carolina clients. Framing is additional and we can frame the portraits at our studio or recommend galleries that can also perform this very important final touch to your portrait!

Pets occupy a special place in many of our portraits. The equine page is a specialty and most of our photography is done at the horse shows so contact us with your questions!

Oil Portaits

Oils are what first come to mind when many people think of a portrait. Ours are created with the finest materials and do not require glass when framed. They do take a bit longer to create simply because of the drying time. As a result you will find that you'll invest a little more for an oil portrait  The 3 sizes below are single subject head and shoulders oils.

Equine & Equestrian Portraits--Pastel & Watercolor

Portraits of horses and their owners are sized and priced differently than portraits of people or animals alone. For this style of portrait, there are three sizes ranging from 11 x 14 to 19 x 26.  For larger sizes, additional animals and people, please contact us.

These rates are for a portrait with 1 horse & 1 person Small  11 x 14: $900.00 Medium 15 x 18: $1600.00    Large 19 x26: $2,200.00 The size of pastel portraits can vary an inch or so depending on pose. This is the size of the painting only, not including any matting or framing.

Equine & Equestrian Portraits--Oils

These small portraits are very popular at Christmas, anniversaries, birthdays, etc! The client supplies the photographs and many bring us very old photos indeed! The guidelines are more specific below as well as the different mediums not available larger. We ship these all over the world! As the number of subjects increase so does the size of the portrait!  Equine cameos are priced differently so please inquire!
